Not Strictly Ballroom

Dance in the new year with 'Not Strictly Ballroom' - a four week course for absolute beginners, covering four dances: Rhythm Foxtrot, Waltz, Cha Cha and Swing.

No need to have prior dance experience and no need to bring a partner.

New for 2009: Improvers' class - for those who have already attended the beginner's course or who have prior dance experience.  Each week, we will take one dance and add figures to what has already been taught.  Later in the year, new dances will be added.

Cost

4 week Beginners' Course
The cost is per person for the full course:

£36 paid in advance 
£40 on the door 

Improvers' Class
£10 per person per class

How to pay

By cash: please put the fee in an envelope addressed to “Gemma Gordon (Not Strictly Ballroom)” and hand in at the Theatre Box Office, Leatherhead Theatre.

What to wear
Whatever you are comfortable in.
Avoid wearing shoes with a rubber sole or that have a lot of grip, such as trainers.

Aims of the course
That those attending will

  • Be able to go to a social dance and have the confidence to dance to those dances s/he has learnt

  • Have fun learning to dance with a partner

  • Be able to move around the four sides of the dance-floor for the ballroom dances

  • Begin to recognise the music being played and what dance they can do to it
